Swiss Cheese Bread

  • 1 pkg. (¾ oz.) Active Dry Yeast
  • ¼ C Sugar
  • ¼ C Butter, melted
  • ½ t Salt
  • 3 T Warm Water
  • 1/3 C Milk
  • 2 Eggs
  • 3 - 3½ C Flour

Filling:

  • 2 pkg. (8 oz.) Cream Cheese
  • 2 C Ohio Swiss Cheese, grated
  • ½ C Sugar
  • 1 Egg

Icing:

  • ½ C Confectioner's Sugar
  • 2-3 t Milk
  • ¼ t Vanilla

Dissolve yeast in warm water, let stand for 5 minutes. add sugar, milk, butter, eggs, salt and 2 cups flour. Stir in enough  remaining flour to  form soft dough. Knead, place in greased bowl. Cover and let rise in warm place about one hour.

Beat filling ingredients, set aside.

On floured surface roll dough into 14" rectangle. Place on greased baking sheet, spread filling in center . Cut 1" angles going 3" into center. Fold dough at an angle across filling. Seal.

Bake at 375° for 25-30 minutes. Combine icing, drizzle.

Serves 12 to 14
